CAPILLARITY

DEFINATION OF CAPILLARITY :-

It is defined as the rise or fall in the level of liquid in a tube when it is immersed in a liquid compared with the adjacent general level of liquid.

CAPILLARY RISE :-

If the liquid rises in the tube then, it is called as "Capillary rise".

EXPRESSION FOR CAPILLARY RISE :-

Where,

     S=surface tension

       p=density of water

     r=radius of glass tube

     g=gravity

CAPILLARY FALL :-

If the liquid fall in tube then, it is called "Capillary fall".

EXPRESSION FOR CAPILLARY FALL :-

     Where,

               p=density of water
