25 Biggest Movie Mistakes You Probably Never Noticed In Blockbusters
Pretty much every movie, whether amazing or terrible, has mistakes. However, they tend to go more unnoticed in great movies, simply because everyone watching them is so absorbed by what’s going on (as opposed to, for example, staring in disbelief at the batsuit’s nipples – I’m looking at you, Batman and Robin). As such, here are 25 mistakes from classic movies that might have snuck under your radar…
North by Northwest
In the shooting scene in the Mount Rushmore cafe, a boy in the background puts his fingers in his ears, because he knows the gun is about to be shot.
Reservoir Dogs
When they bring Marvin Nash to be tortured, his hands are cuffed behind his back. They start kicking him and his hands are then seen cuffed in front. Then, they switch back just a few moments later and his hands are back behind his back again.
Gone With The Wind
In the scene where Ashley is brought back wounded from the raid where Scarlett’s husband Mr Kennedy was killed, Melanie grabs a gas lamp to follow the man carrying Ashley to the bedroom and you can see an electrical cord hanging down from it.
Pulp Fiction
When they are giving Mia Wallace the adrenaline shot, they mark her chest with a red magic marker. When the shot has been given, the red mark has disappeared.
Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back
When one of the Storm Troopers unties Solo before he is put into the carbonite, watch his wardrobe – he has a disappearing / reappearing jacket on. This is fixed to an extent on the DVD – the jacket is now lightened to almost match his shirt, but it’s still shiny like leather.
The Wizard of Oz
It’s a Wonderful Life
In a scene near the end of the movie, George enters the Building and Loan with a Christmas wreath on his arm. On hearing that he has a phone call from his brother Harry, he tosses the wreath on a table and picks up the phone. In the next second, the wreath is back on his arm.
The Usual Suspects
Right before they rob the police car, a Boeing 747 (four engines) is seen in shots of the plane coming into land. But when the plane is shown from behind, it has only two engines and fewer main langing gears, probably a Boeing 767.
Gladiator
In the “Battle of Carthage” in the Colosseum, one of the chariots is turned over. Once the dust settles you can see a gas cylinder in the back of the chariot.
Leon
After Leon rescues Mathilda from the SWAT team and dodges the snipers, he shoots out a ventilation fan to make an escape route. He gets off two shots before we see the vent, but when it does we see about 7 bullet holes around the vent. Then the camera goes back to Leon as he continues firing. When the camera switches back, the holes around the vent are different.
Raiders of the Lost Ark
After Marion supposedly dies in the truck explosion and Indy is drinking outside at the bar, watch to the left of him. You can see a man wearing a modern t-shirt and jeans walking through the crowd.
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
When the T-1000 is driving the truck, he drives off a bridge and the windshield pops off, but in the next scene the windshield is back.
The Dark Knight Rises
As Bruce Wayne is researching the jewel thief, the word “Heist” is spelled “Hiest” in a newspaper headline.
Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi
When Lando says “Go on, you pirate” his entire outfit is reversed – his shoulder holster strap goes the other way, and his rank insignia changes side too.
Inglourious Basterds
The German Feldwebel, who gets beaten to death with a baseball bat, has a badge over is left breast pocket which disappears and reappears during shots.
Batman Begins
When the burning log falls on Bruce, it lands near his feet. Camera cuts and it’s now by his neck.
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Just as Jack says, “On deck, you scabrous dogs,” to the very left edge of the screen over Jack’s shoulder is a grip crew member with a tan cowboy hat, white short sleeve tee shirt and sunglasses, just standing there looking out to sea.
Die Hard
When the terrorists launch the rocket at the RV, they break the same window of the building twice.
The Avengers
During the big battle against the Chitauri, Captain America is zapped with a blaster bolt. When Thor helps him to his feet we can see a significant amount of damage done to his suit, just below the star on the right hand side. But later on after Iron Man destroys the Chitauri ship with the nuke, the damage is completely gone.
Toy Story
When “Legs” lowers the Pez duck named Ducky down through the removed lightbulb hole, to ring the doorbell, the lightbulb housing is bigger than the hole but they bring it up through the hole to remove it.
The Terminator
When The Terminator’s stolen police car is shown up close in the parking structure, the motto on the left side of it reads “to care and to protect.” After the car crashes, you can see the motto on the left side again, but this time it reads “Dedicated to serve.” The car’s trim and position/orientation of the police emblem change as well.
Forrest Gump
In the scene where Forrest goes and visits Jenny (and is introduced to his son), there is an iron on the ironing board in the background. It stands up, then down, then up. The child’s artwork in the background also disappears.
Back to the Future
When Marty is being chased by the Libyans, a few times it cuts away to show the instrumentation in the car. The first time the odometer reads 33064.2 and the trip counter says 88.8; the second time it’s goes back a little to 33061.8 and 86.4. A few seconds later we see it as he turns the corner, and it goes down again from 33,061.8 to 32,994.4, the trip counter has gone from 86.4 to 19. In fact it’s a completely different set of instrumentation – the bottom of the needle’s angled in some shots and flat in others.
